Should I purchase a petrol , Diesel or LPG Dual Fuel powered generator

Petrol
When comparing a petrol engine to a diesel, it is important to remember a number of key factors. Petrol engines tend to be;

Diesel
In contrast to petrol a diesel engine tends to be;

LPG Dual Fuel
An LPG dual fuel option refers to the conversion of petrol engine to run on either LPG or petrol. It essentially enables the user to purchase a lower costing petrol engine and also have the low running costs of a diesel. Advantages include;

•Up to 50% reduction in running costs in comparison to petrol
•60% lower CO2 emissions in comparison to petrol allows a more environmentally friendly operation.
•Due to the lower carbon content of LPG, consumables such as
spark plugs and oil have extended life.
•Running times can be extended with the use of larger LPG bottles.
•Safer to use, as LPG avoids the hazard of having to refill a hot engine with highly flammable fuel.
•An LPG conversion means there is no danger of fuel contamination or fuel going stale in the carburettor, a common problem with petrol.
•Re-fuelling is made easier, as the user simply needs to re-connect a new cylinder bottle

Types of GearGB LPG kit

Bottle Mount LPG Dual Fuel Kit
The ‘bottle mount’ refers to the low pressure regulator (the round silver regulator), which couples to the LPG cylinder bottle and arrives fully pre-assembled, ready for you to fit to your engine. This is our simplest and most common kit. It can be fitted in just a few minutes and is supplied with a quick release coupling situated at the carburettor (can be supplied without, upon request) enabling easy removal of the kit for transportation or when the engine is required for petrol only use. With this type of kit, to turn the engine off, you must isolate the LPG supply by turning the LPG bottle off before turning the engine ignition off. A maximum LPG hose length of 2 metres is available with this kit.

Frame Mount LPG Dual Fuel Kit
The ‘frame mount’ refers to the low pressure regulator (the round silver regulator), which can be mounted to the engine frame anywhere around the engine. The kit is supplied with a bottle regulator but can be easily changed to another type of LPG connection, if needed (eg. alternative LPG bottle or LPG tank connection). The kit will arrive with all LPG fittings secured. However, the hose must be cut to a distance where the low pressure regulator is to be mounted and then the clips secured accordingly. With this type of kit, to turn the engine off, you must isolate the LPG supply by turning the LPG bottle off before turning the engine ignition off. A quick release coupling kit can be purchased additional to this LPG kit.

Door Mount LPG Dual Fuel Kit
The 'door mount' refers to the low pressure regulator (the round silver regulator), which is mounted to the door of a suitcase type generator. The kit arrives fully pre-assembled, ready for you to fit to your machine. It is a fully detachable LPG kit that can be removed with thumbscrew fitting. It is supplied with a quick release coupling situated at the base of the generator. With this type of kit, to turn the engine off, you must isolate the LPG supply by turning the LPG bottle off before turning the engine ignition off. A BBQ type LPG fitting can be fitted to this type of kit, this allows the user to run the generator from a motorhome / caravan BBQ LPG point. Please contact us for more details on this.

Solenoid Safety LPG Dual Fuel Kit
This type of kit is simply a frame mount kit for electric start engines which is operated by a solenoid system. It is an additional safety system that shuts off the LPG supply when the engine ignition is turned off, meaning you do not have to turn the LPG off at the cylinder. A remote start module can be fitted. A much greater length of hose can be used with this kit.
